A long term vision for Habbo: Building the future of our hotel
Hey Habbos!
You’ve stuck with us through big changes, challenging updates, and new beginnings. And your dedication, creativity, and feedback have helped shape everything that’s coming next.
This article will serve as an update for you, the community, about where our priorities lie and the direction development is going in over the next two years or so.
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions about what we’ve discussed below and Habbo more generally later on in a Town Hall we’re running 👀 We’ll give the community several days to read and digest this article before we do that, though.

1️⃣ Making Habbo fun
Our goal is to make your daily time in Habbo more fun and rewarding. We want you to log in with clear goals and leave feeling accomplished. Over the past year, we've helped this to happen with introducing the following features:
-
Daily Tasks and the Ducket Shop: We’ve introduced daily tasks to give you short-term objectives. To make this meaningful, we’ve significantly expanded the variety in the Ducket Shop, giving you cool and useful things to spend your hard-earned Duckets on.
-
Seasonal Quests: From springtime hunts to spooky Halloween events, we’ve used Quests that give you seasonal currency and other types of rewards. These events bring a fresh wave of activities and exclusive items to strive for!
-
Recycling features: Earlier this month we introduced the Furni-Matic and the Collecti-Matic! These are more end-game type features, with the top tier items being quite challenging to get.
2️⃣ Our feature development goals for Habbo
We want to be as transparent about our development process as possible. Our team is extraordinarily passionate about Habbo, but we're also rather small, which means resources are limited. Because of this and the need for us to retain an element of pragmatism, we won’t commit to hard timetables or fixed deadlines. We're also just keen to avoid making promises we might not be able to keep!
However, our aim is to release two big feature updates each year.
Here’s a selection of the things we want to release in Habbo over the next couple of years:
😼 Emojis! Get ready to express yourself like never before – emojis are coming to Habbo! They're both a new way to chat and a new type of Habbo item to
collect. You’ll start with a basic set, but will be able earn and collect hundreds more through quests, achievements, the Shop, the Ducket Shop, and even as Collectibles. The emoji shown on the right hand side is a sketch of what these may look like. Stay tuned for more information!
📡 The evolution of Wired. We envision a future where our top room builders and creators essentially become game developers. To get there, we've been overhauling Wired – fixing bugs, making it accessible, and rebuilding it as a true programming language. Next, we're integrating core game mechanics into the toolset. See below for a section with more information on this.
💰 A rewarding experience. A creator’s game needs players. That’s why we’re overhauling Habbo’s levelling and progression system: to make your time in the Hotel more meaningful. In the new system, playing community-made games will be a key way to earn XP and unlock valuable rewards. Your time, skill, and engagement will be central to the Habbo experience.
🕺 A more lively hotel: We're exploring new emotes and Habbo dances to help you express yourself and bring rooms to life.
🎖️ Enhanced profile customisation: We know how important your identity is, so we're looking into ways for you to truly make your mark with things like custom backgrounds, prestigious titles, and exclusive badges.
Alongside two major features a year, we're tackling a lot behind the scenes – improving moderation, adding EU-required DSA features, fixing bugs, enhancing UX, and rolling out smaller updates like new quests, tasks, and achievements. There’s plenty to do for sure 😀
3️⃣ Integrating Habbo Collectibles into the Hotel
Habbo Collectibles represent the premium experience in Habbo. They’re more than just in-game items – they’re digital assets that you can legitimately buy and sell for cryptocurrency on supported marketplaces like TokenTrove.
When you own a Collectible, you own it in all of the hotels we operate. You can use it or trade it in any of our hotels, too. This is a core promise we will continue to build on!
🟢 We’ve updated our long term vision for Habbo Collectibles, while also keeping the OLD ONE live on our website for reference. Read the new one here: COLLECTIBLES.HABBO.COM/ROADMAP
Here’s what you can expect for the future of Collectibles:
-
Seamless integration: We are focused on bringing the features from our website, like the Collectors Guild and marketplace functionalities, directly into Habbo.
-
New items, Collectibles, and Relics: We will continue to release exciting new lines of Collectibles. At the same time, we will keep allowing players to convert their old Habbo items into Relics, old items that have been converted to Collectibles.
-
Making Your Collection Matter: We want your Collector Level to be really meaningful. Our new Collectibles “core loop” will offer better and more frequent free rewards to dedicated collectors: the more you collect, the more you’ll earn.
I also want to share a personal story that shaped my belief in this vision in Web3. Years ago, long before NFTs were even invented, I was an avid player of Magic: The Gathering Online. I loved the game and probably spent around €2,000 - €3,000 on digital cards over the years. When the time came for me to move on, I was able to use the game's own trading system to sell my entire collection, and I made back about €1,500. For me, this was never about making a profit; it was about validating the time and money I had invested in a game I loved. It was a powerful feeling to get some of that value back. When I first learned about Web3 and NFTs, that experience immediately came to mind. It’s why I was instantly convinced of its potential.
This is the core reason I am so passionate about Habbo Collectibles. Giving you, the players, a genuine opportunity to have ownership of your items and to recoup some of the value you've put into the hotel is a principle I believe is the future of gaming. Again, not as an investment but as a way to give you more options as a collector.
4️⃣ Wired and its role in Habbo
We’ve steadily been making substantial improvements to the Wired system. They are the foundational blocks for our next big step.
We want to empower our talented room creators to build truly interactive and engaging experiences where you can complete daily tasks and Quests inside their rooms, earning currency and rewards.
There are 5 total stages in the Wired project. These were set in stone before the project began:
-
✅ Bug fixing
-
Wired had a critical amount of individual bugs, which often made it unusable.
-
✅ Making Wired accessible
-
We placed Wired in the BC warehouse, making it more accessible and lowering the cost of builds that used Wired.
-
✅ Wired as a programming language
-
With a full Wired rework, the introduction of Wired Signals, Selectors, Variables, and new Creator tools – alongside ongoing maintenance and smaller updates – Wired has become a truly unique system in Habbo, capable of powering almost anything you can imagine!
-
🔄️ Integrating game mechanics
-
With a solid foundation for Wired, we will continue to integrate existing Habbo game mechanics into Wired, and invent new ones.
-
🔄️ Educating the player base
-
More about this in the future!
We are currently around halfway through stage 4.
Currently in development is something huge: Wired trading, payment and rewards mechanisms 👀 This update will open up a whole new world of automation, economic activity, and creativity, giving you more control, more possibilities, and more ways to earn and interact in-game. It's easily one of the biggest shifts in Habbo gameplay we've ever made!
If you want to stay on top of all the Wired changes, we invite you to join the Wired Faculty Discord.
Our roadmap is a living thing, but its direction is clear. We are building a more engaging Habbo for everyone, empowering our creators to build the future of this hotel we call our home, and cementing the value and ownership of your items through Collectibles.
We’re building the hotel of tomorrow together – one room, one feature, one brilliant idea at a time!
