The Habbo Community Council – now with one united voice
Over the past few years – and even longer in the case of the Sandbox players – we’ve been working closely with two groups: the Habbo Community Council, originally set up to advise on Collectibles, and the players in the player-run Sandbox Discord server. To make things simpler and stronger, we’re now consolidating these groups into one, unified Habbo Community Council.
Both of these groups have existed for years and already had significant influence on what we’re doing – this consolidation simply makes their role official and easier to understand! 🙌
💁 What does the Community Council do?
The purpose of the Council is to give objective, expert, unbiased input and advice about specific areas of our work in Habbo. Below are a few things they help us with:
-
Providing advice about how features should work, or suggesting specific tweaks to features to make them land better with the community.
-
Advising about how the community might react to a new item, event, or feature.
-
Get directly involved in helping steer the design of furni lines from the ground up. (For example: the “Festa no Brasil” event was shaped this way with the Portuguese-speaking members of the Sandbox group and other, non-Community Council proxies.) In fact, this way of working is being formalised: for all our major events, the Community Council will now be involved right from the initial brainstorming phase. This should mean better feedback, stronger collaboration, and hopefully events and furni lines that land even better with you, the wider community 🤝
🧘 Why consolidate?
-
It’s more efficient to have one group instead of two.
-
It allows us to bring together a diverse mix of players into a single voice for the whole of Habbo – not just Collectibles.
-
It helps us get clearer, better feedback on events, features, and items.

We’d originally planned to rotate the Community Council regularly, but circumstances have changed since it was created. The current dynamic and group composition have worked well, so we’re keen to keep things as they are for now.
Membership was and is by appointment, and players are chosen not just for their knowledge and passion for Habbo, but also for being objective, constructive, and easy to work with. Everyone currently in the Council has proven they can do this consistently over several years.
We know many players would love the chance to join the Community Council. However, for now (and in the short term) the group will remain as it is, with no new members being added. In the future, we may review how new members could be brought in.
This is us being transparent about the Council, since for many of you this may be the first time you’re hearing about it.
It’s vitally important to understand that members of the Community Council play an advisory role, and a lot of the time we do not or cannot take their advice. This is part and parcel of running a business, as we have to ensure Habbo’s long term sustainability and success is prioritised.
If there are any updates about the Council’s role and impact we’ll share them with the wider community, but for now, know that they’ll be helping shape Habbo’s future in a more official and collaborative way than before!
